Google earlier had rolled out the Neighbourly app in Mumbai and Jaipur and now, after a successful deployment in these two cities, Google is bringing its Neighbourly app to five more cities in India. From now on, people in Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Mysore, Vizag, and Kota, will be able to access to the app.

Using the Neighbourly app, people can get answers to all kind of local questions, be it restaurant hunt or the best pub or even it can help people find the best gym. As per Google, 20% of people tap to speak their question and each question gets an average of four relevant, trusted answers.

In the last few months, Google’s Next Billion Users team conducted a series of studies and spoke to locals in neighbourhoods. The response was great and especially women, students, and daily commuters were pretty interested in the concept.

The Neighbourly app has also been updated and offers Enhanced voice input, as there is a growing margin of users tap to ask a question, Quick replies, Similar answers. Quick replies help users clarify a question and answer or add more information, whereas similar answers will be shown for questions asked and responded to where there are multiple replies.

Commenting on this expansion, Josh Woodward, Group Product Manager on Google’s Next Billion Users team, said, “We’re seeing people in different age groups in Mumbai and Jaipur use the app in interesting ways to find answers to everyday questions in their neighbourhood. With Neighbourly, we are able to address the local information needs of India’s fast-growing internet users in their neighbourhood. We’re excited about the adoption and early engagement and are looking forward to providing a useful experience to people in five new cities across India.”

The beta version of Neighbourly is now available on the Google Play Store for all smartphones running Android 4.3 Jellybean of higher in Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Mysore, Vizag, and Kota.
