South Korean electronics giant LG is known for not just excellent products but also for its effort in people’s welfare spread across the world. As India is suffering through a deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which started last year, and as LG Electronics completes 24 years of its journey in India, the company has pledged to help ten makeshift hospitals across India. LG has notified us that they will make it possible by associating with local government bodies and NGOs.

Speaking of the initiative Young Lak Kim, MD- LG Electronics India said, “We stand committed to lending our full support to the Government & citizens in fight against COVID-19. In the onset of pandemic last year, we provided support by sharing our resources with the healthcare community. Our focus has always been on the well-being of the people and we believe through Makeshift hospitals we can contribute to saving lives by creating medical infrastructure. It has been 24 years since our inception in India & we are committed to make Life’s good for India. We will continue our social initiatives to contribute in a meaningful way. We will be working with various Govt’s/Partners to create required medical infrastructure with a budget of USD 5.5 MN.”

As a part of this association, LG will be providing financial assistance worth $5.5 million to set up medical infrastructure. As a part of this initiative, LG will fund India’s most prominent medical facility AIIMS, so that more beds can be added to treat COVID-19 patients.

This initiative is not just limited to AIIMS, but LG will fund such makeshift hospitals across Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Pune, Bhopal, Udaipur, Lucknow & other cities in association with various Government hospitals. LG Electronics will be working with implementation partners, including People to People Foundation, across multiple states.

Last year, when the COVID-19 struck India, LG partnered with Akshaya Patra Foundation to serve a million meals across India. LG India also donated products like water purifiers, air conditioners, refrigerators & TV to more than three hundred hospitals allotted for quarantine and isolation wards in state & districts. The company has received recognition and appreciation from several Governments across states in India for such efforts. As the company completes 24 years in India, LG has committed to providing active support to people in need in this current situation.
