Huawei Consumer Business Group, India today unveiled the latest flagship from Huawei for this year, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The all-new flagship from Huawei is a benchmark setter in the field of all-round smartphone performance.

Commenting on the launch of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro in India, Mr. Wally Yang, Senior Product Marketing Director, Huawei Consumer Business group, said, “Huawei is introducing cutting edge and high-performance devices globally. The all new Huawei Mate 20 Pro is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 980 SoC, manufactured with the advanced 7nm process and the company claims that the processor will provide improved performance, better battery efficiency, and a smoother user experience. Another notable feature of the phone is that it comes with world’s first 40W Huawei Super Charger, which is capable of charing the 4200 mAh battery of the phone up to 70% in just 30 minutes.

Also, a new triple camera system has been introduced on the phone which the company calls as ‘Matrix Camera System’. This camera module consists of a Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens, along with macro distance capabilities. Huawei has also partnered with Dolby to enrich the mobile entertainment experience with moving audio and the company’s collaboration with Microsoft will provide fully neural on device translations using the Microsoft Translator app, allowing offline and accurate translations on the move. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro debuts with EMUI 9.o which is based on Android 9.0 Pie, bringing the best and latest of Android, with an attempt of simple user experience.

As per Huawei, the kirin 980 is 75% more powerful when compared to the Kirin 970 packing 6.9 billion transistors within the size of a fingernail. Also, it is the world’s first commercial SoC to use the Cortex-A76-based cores and also, in terms of NPU, it is the first SoC to be equipped with Dual-NPU, letting it granting it higher On-Device AI processing capability. The list doesn’t just end here. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is also the first smartphone in the world to support the 4.5G LTE Cat. 21 standard, allowing consumers to experience download speeds of up to 1.4Gbps.

Also, apart from the 40W Huawei Super Charge, the phone supports 15W Huawei Wireless Quick Charge and Wireless Reverse Charge, which lets users charge their phones at super high speeds while they can also charge another Wireless Charging supported device using their Huawei Mate 20 Pro, another industry first innovation, turning a phone into a portable wireless power bank.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features a 6.39-inch curved AMOLED display providing rich colors and deep black. The Matrix Camera array on the back of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro features a four-point design with the three cameras and sensor encircled in a polished metal frame, producing a gradient finish, that looks stunning as well as it feels very premium.

In terms of the camera department, Huawei has worked a lot on developing a camera system that uses a combination of three lenses providing flexibility to users using a 16mm Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens, along with the ability to capture objects that are placed as close as 2.5cm from the lens. In total, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is equipped with a 40MP main camera, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera, allowing users to take many kinds of shots and Huawei claims that the combination of these lenses supports a wide range of focal lengths which is equivalent to the performance of a 16-270mm zoom lens.

Also, along with the powerful camera hardware, the AI processing capabilities offer a pre-set modes such as AI Colour, Vintage, Fresh, Suspense and Background Blur and the AI Spotlight Reel identifies clips with a shared theme and auto-generates a montage. On the front, there is a 24MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and also, along with that, on the front, there is also a 3D depth-sensing camera, which allows secure 3D Face Unlock providing an unlock speed of 0.6 seconds.

In India, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been priced at Rs. 69,990. The phone will go on sale via Amazon and Amazon Prime members can order the device starting from December 3 midnight while, non-Prime members can order the phone starting from the midnight of December 4. Also, customers can purchase the bundle where they can get the Mate 20 Pro and the Sennheiser PXC 550, worth Rs. 29,990, for a special cost of Rs. 71,990.

Also, Huawei will be offering a hands-on experience of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro at Croma and it will be available across Croma stores in key metro cities starting December 10, 2018. Also, there are various partner offers from carriers- Idea Postpaid users will get 20% bill rental discount per month for 12 months on Red or Nirvana Postpaid rental plans worth Rs.499 and above. Vodafone Idea Limited customers can avail 1.1 GB data per day for 12 recharges when they recharge with a plan worth Rs. 199 each month.
