OnePlus finally launched the OnePlus 6T in India, a day after the global launch where the company made it official that OnePlus 6T is going to be available in the US, marking the company’s entry in the nation. A day later, the company introduced the OnePlus 6T in India, a country where the brand has already gained momentum. This is the first time OnePlus has launched a phone that has an in-display fingerprint scanner and the company is calling it as ‘Screen Unlock’. However, the executives mentioned that they tried putting the same technology even in the OnePlus 5T, but as the tech wasn’t ready at that time, they delayed the implementation. As per the claims by the brand, the fingerprint scanner lets users unlock the phone in 0.34 seconds, that is one-third of a second.

In terms of specs, the OnePlus 6T packs the top-notch hardware featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 6GB and 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. There are three variants- 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256 GB storage. Also, in terms of colour based variants, there are two-  Mirror Black and Midnight Black. However, depending upon the past trends OnePlus has followed, we can safely bet that the company may introduce limited edition variants of OnePlus 6T as well like a Red Edition, Star Wars Edition, and Avengers Edition.

The OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch full HD+ display, with 19.5:9 ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Now, the display comes with a waterdrop style notch, saving space only for the front-facing camera. However, in the Oxygen OS, as expected, there is an option to turn off that notch. However, to maximize the display or pack a bigger battery or whatsoever, the headphone jack is absent on the OnePlus 6T, the first phone to OnePlus to do so.

In the camera department, the OnePlus 6T is expected to excel. The phone sports a dual rear camera setup consisting of two lenses- a 16-megapixel primary sensor and 20-megapixel secondary sensor, with a f/1.7 aperture. There is OIS and EIS support for the rear camera and also, the camera on the back is capable of recording 480 fps slow-mo videos. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

In terms of software, surprisingly, the OnePlus 6T runs OxygenOS based on Android 9.0 Pie, packing all the extra features the OnePlus neatly puts inside the fluid Oxygen OS, without the bloatware or showing stupid ads. Also, OnePlus will be adding more features, gesture support and improve the OS, which in turn will improve camera performance as well. However, one of the most notable features of the phone now stands out to be the Nightscape Photography, which the company claims to provide natural-looking pictures in all lighting conditions and improves the low light photography. There is also a Studio Lighting feature that provides a dramatic look to portrait shots and this feature is also coming to OnePlus 6. There is a Smart Boost feature that will boost the gaming experience and will also load the most frequently used apps in the background so that apps load up fast and the users can have a fluid experience.

OnePlus 6T base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 37,999 in India. The higher variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 41,999, and the top-variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs. 45,999. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant will only be available in a Mirror Black colour while the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant will come in a Midnight Black. However, the mid variant with 8GB RAM/128GB storage will available in Midnight Black as well as Mirror Black colors.

Customers who pre-book the device will get free Type C earphones along with the phone and an Amazon Pay balance worth Rs, 500. The prebooking starts November 1 midnight on Amazon India and OnePlus Official Website, and the first open sale will start from November 4, 2018. There are various launch offers like Citibank Credit Card users and ICICI Card users will get Rs. 2,000 instant cashback. There is a free damage protection from Kotak 811 and Servify, no-cost EMIs, and Rs. 5,400 instant cashback from Jio along with up to 3TB of 4G data. Starting from November 3, the OnePlus 6T will be available at Reliance Digital outlets, Croma, and OnePlus Official Stores.

Along with the OnePlus 6T, the company has also launched a backpack called the OnePlus Explorer Backpack, which is available in black and grey colours and is priced at Rs. 4999. OnePlus has also introduced the Bullets Type-C headphones, priced at Rs 1,490.
