Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant is now officially the number one smartphone vendor in India. This news comes after IDC published the report of smartphone sales in India in the Q3 2017.

Xiaomi has been competing hard with a giant like Samsung and now, with a market share of 23.5% and having shipped 9.2 million smartphones in the quarter, Xiaomi beats everyone else and becomes the top smartphone vendor. Along with that, it is now also the fastest growing smartphone brand with a year on year growth of around 300%, which is massive.

The Redmi Note 4 is right now the best selling smartphone from Xiaomi, following Redmi Note 4, the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A are at the second and third highest selling phones from Xiaomi. With four million units shipped in the quarter, Redmi Note 4 continued its legacy of being the number one smartphone even after nine months and the secret of this success lies in the power and unmatched battery life that the Redmi Note 4 provides.

The company has also taken the strategy for expanding its offline business through Large Format Retailer partners, Mi Preferred Partner stores and Mi Homes, that led to doubling of the offline sales in Q3. Xiaomi continues to lead in the online market with a firm 51% market share and those four million units were sold between 20th Sep to 19th Oct.

Commenting on this record-breaking success, Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India said, “Within three years of our entry into the Indian market, we have been able to achieve a never-seen-before feat of market dominance. As far as we are aware, we are the first brand across all sectors to have become a market leader within such a short span of time. Xiaomi’s focus on providing innovation to everyone and our commitment to the Indian market have propelled us to success on this incredible journey. We have truly innovated across our products, business model, infrastructure, marketing methods and, combined with our efficient team of 350+ employees, we have been able to achieve this immensely significant milestone.”

Xiaomi entered India in July 2014 and has since disrupted the smartphone industry with a never-ending lineup of excellent value for money phones as well as flagships, that pack power, performance, innovation and excellent community support.
