Do I need to pay any additional charges when claiming the protection (in case of accidental / liquid damage)?

As per standard insurance claim guidelines, you would need to pay a nominal fee of 3% of the repair cost or Rs. 300 (whichever is higher) when you claim the protection against your damaged Mi phone. For example, if the phone repair cost is Rs. 6000, then you would need to pay Rs. 300 directly to One Assist Pvt. Ltd. and Mi Protect will pay the rest. In case the repair cost is Rs. 12000, the you would need to pay Rs. 360 while the rest would be borne by Mi Protect.

I bought a new Mi Phone; can I transfer my Mi Protect membership to my new phone?

Yes, Mi Protect give your advantage to transfer your remaining period of membership to your new Mi Phone if you have bought it from Mi.com only. The plan fee for the reminder of the period basis the new handset coverage will be communicated to you once you advice OneAssist about the new device purchased on Mi.com

Can I cancel my Mi Protect membership?

Yes, you can cancel your Mi Protect membership upto 30 Days from the date of purchase provided there is no claim in your membership. OneAssist will refund the applicable amount to you directly, and the refund would not be processed by mi.com (Xiaomi).

How do I claim insurance for Accidental damage or Liquid Damage?

You need to submit the relevant documents required to process your claim along with the damaged device photos to start the cashless repair process. The screen of my Mi phone is damaged accidently, do I need to pay for it repair?

If you have purchased the Mi Protect along with your Mi phone on mi.com, then you don’t need to pay for the repair. OneAssist will arrange for damaged device pickup from your residence, get it repaired and deliver your handset at your residence. You just need to pay nominal excess charges or processing fee as per the terms and condition shared with you during the time of activation.

I have already made a claim under Mi Protect, am I allowed to make another claim?

Yes, you can make another claim (up to 2 claims) during the tenure of your Mi Protect membership, provided your previous claim is not settled under Total Loss or Beyond Economic Repair category.

What is Total Loss or Beyond Economic repair category?

The handset when not repairable or the condition when repair cost of handset is 75% of handset Invoice value it is considered as Total Loss OR Beyond Economic Repair category. You will get applicable amount as per the Terms & Condition for your handset in such scenarios.

What is not covered under this policy?

The scenarios which won’t be covered are under Insurance are…

  • Loss or damage to the Gadget due to mysterious circumstances / disappearance or unexplained reasons.
  • Loss of Gadget resulting from or caused by theft, or attempted theft from unlocked vehicles or rooms.
  • Fraud or criminal activity on the part of the Insured and the Subscriber.
  • Claim on gadget during the hire or loan of the insured gadget to a third party.
  • Loss resulting from detention or confiscation by customs or other Government or public authorities.
  • Any failure of the Gadget to operate as a result of problems with respect to the network infrastructure, Subscriber’s network subscription or similar service issues.

  • Loss arising due to any unlawful act or illegal activities including criminal acts, or acts of war or the handset is used with permission of the Bonafide Subscriber having knowledge of such acts.
  • Consequential loss of any kind or description.
  • Liability to any party of any nature including but not limited to liability of Authorised Service centre to other parties.
  • Loss or damage caused by incorrect storage, poor maintenance, wilful negligence, incorrect installation, incorrect set-up, unless the authorised Service Centre representative would confirm otherwise with due substantiation.
  • Loss or damage as a result of attack by un-authorised software/virus, software faults and manufacturing defect owing to which a gadget fails to operate.
  • Loss or damage that is covered by a supplier, dealer or factory warranty.
  • Any loss if the ownership of the gadget is transferred.
  • Any consequence arising from War, War lime operations (whether War declared or not) , Act of Foreign Enemy, Hostilities, Civil War, Rebellion, Insurrection, Civil Commotion, Military usurped power, Seizure, Capture, Confiscation, Arrest. Restraints and or Detainment by order of any Government or any other Authority.
  • Any liability whatsoever nature directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from ionizing radioactive or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear waste from combustion of nuclear fuel. For the purpose of this exclusion only combustion shall include any self-sustaining process of nuclear fission.
  • Any loss, destruction, damage or legal liability directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from nuclear weapon materials, Wear and tear, moth, vermin or gradual deterioration, inherent defect or from any process of cleaning or repairing or renovating or maintenance.
  • Any type of self-repair or attempted self-repair.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Breakdown or electronic derangement or malfunction unless caused by an external accidental means or liquid.
  • Penalties of delay or detention or in connection with guarantees of performance or efficiency.
    Intentional overloading of the instrument. Loss or damage due to any experiments or tests and/or alterations resulting into any abnormal conditions.
  • Cost of Replacement of Battery unless caused by an accidental or liquid damage to the Gadget.
    Any damage or loss occasioned from any water borne craft, unless such damage is caused by the accidental ingress of liquid/water, and if the Subscriber has taken reasonable care to protect the Gadget from damage.
  • Any manufacturing defect which is covered under Manufacturer’s warranty Product defects whether latent / inherent or not.
  • Any loss of or damage to the SIM card / memory card unless caused by an insured peril.
  • Loss or damage to accessories unless they are attached to the Gadget.
  • Internal leakage of the battery, unless caused by an insured peril. Theft or Damage occurred while the Gadget is situated outside India providing the subscriber is a Non Resident Indian.
  • Any instance where you are not a resident of India at the time that the Theft or Damage occurred.
  • Any type of SIM / airtime misuse or consequential loss thereof.
  • Any loss the named Subscribers may suffer or cost to the Subscriber for:
    • Damage to or Theft of, or costs or charges, when repairing or replacing aerials or battery chargers where these items are the only part of the gadget that have been Damaged or stolen;
    • any Damage or Theft caused by any deliberate act or negligence by the Insured Member(s), their employees or any person using the gadget with their permission;
    • costs or charges when replacing car kits or car Devices and other accessories which can no longer be used with the gadget;
    • costs involved in returning the gadget for repair, or collecting the gadget once it has been repaired;
    • costs caused by the gadget being routinely serviced, inspected, adjusted or cleaned;
  • Any loss related to indemnification for the Value added services
  • The Insurer shall not be liable for any loss or damage claim due to the inability of the Subscriber and insured to submit either of the claim processing and claim payment documents required by the Insurer for processing the Claim

The policy shall not be liable for any claim if information has intentionally been withheld or incorrect information or misrepresentations have been intentionally given that are of significance to the assessment of the claim.

My Phone is more than 1 year old, can I buy Mi Protect now?

No, Mi Protect is available only along with new phone bought from Mi.com.

    Im also a victim of mi protect by one assist. Mi has no role in this i thnk. They are havng jus a tie up with one assist. All the damages are doing by oneassist. My claim was lodged on March 23rd and till now my begging continues. The reasons i heard frm oneassist is not different frm what i read in Shubham’s comments. Waiting for the due date for more than one month…last couple of week i have been hearing the same song : “wait for 48 hrs…wait for 48 hrs…” If anybody want to get the fone repaired immediately pls dont take mi protect if its providing by oneassist..those who dont want their fone for a span of 3 or 4 months then mi protect is the best insurance coverage for ur device (i dont knw when my handset wil be coming back to me. If its nt geting even after 4 months i will b updating this comment.) and those who do not have any patience or having limited amount of patients can avail this scheme frm oneassist.Thank u so much oneassist for upgrading my patience.

    While purchasing I did not see anything like Mi Protect on the website. It’s is already short in stock, one has to hurry while making purchase to make sure to get the phone.

    I placed an order & called One Assist, they told me that I can call once I receive the phone. I receieved a call on the day of delivery, however phone was yet to be delivered. I called one it was delivered & I was told that currently there is no plan so a call back will be arranged.

    I receieved a callback next day, where I was asked to make a payment of ₹1399 for Total Protect plan. I said I need the one of ₹375 as stated on the website. I was told that it’s not available anymore. It stopped working on Saturday & will be updated on website in 24 hours. So, I asked him to call me after 24 hours when it would be removed from the website, he just hang up the call.

    I called couple of times later but no success and most importantly they all lacked curtsey & telephone etiquettes.

    MI is ruining it’s reputation for after sales support.

    1. And they (OneAssist) believe, they have a right to speak with that tone because we are all refugees with a defective piece on our hands who already paid to them having no choice to listen to them :)

    2. I think it’s better that you didn’t buy mi protect because their after sale services are more pathetic and you might end up loosing more money and time while getting the claim.

    My mobile screen got broken on 06/09/2016 at 04:00 AM in Bangalore and I filed Service Request number 1540276 with oneassist (https://www.oneassist.in) with below details


    While taking out mobile from pocket it got slipped .It fell down on ground with screen facing towards ground .This cause screen damaged and broken. When I pickup the Mobile it was on state only. Touch also working and I am able to receive and make calls.
    Only issue is the screen damage .If I use my finger to touch then I am feeling hurt as glasses are broken

    On sept 12 claim document and damaged handset is collected and I got confirmation email from happytoassist@oneassist.in

    On sept 20 I got email saying service center estimation for repair is 6260/-

    I am not sure if its Mi Service center is doing all this or or its OneAssist which just taking money from Insurance company and not refunding.

  8. I paid for MiAssist and their policies say we need not pay a single penny besides (screenshot of benefits – http://take.ms/cIqr8) the annual fees.
    But before sending the product to the repair center, they are forcing me to pay some “excess” amount. I think they are referring to FAQ #6 here (https://www.oneassist.in/FAQ/mobile/), but my invoice is perfect.
    Rs. 100 or Rs. 10000, when they are getting paid for service, they have to do it without any hassles.

    Could anybody help me understand it?

  9. Really it is worst worst worst service by oneassist. They just do one after one escalation and nothing will happen. 9th september i have submitted my handset to oneassist guy and after that it’s long time past I did not receive my handset, surprisingly I also did not get any standby handset (which is within my policy). Oneassist is a real fraud company. As per the policy document it may take time upto 45 days but it is already over more than 60 days but my handset still is not with me. My service request no is 1540788.

    I complained and gave away my phone for repair and it’s been more than 2 months now, and they keep delaying the delivery date. It is a waste.

    this is in tie up with One assist and not MI by itself. Also it is an insurance and not like any plan. I have 5 phone for my family in my name. For all of them I have to submit all relevant documents under my name..
    No one else can follow up. I struggled so much to raise a complete ticket with one assist, thankfully I took the tip from various comments above and did not hand over my phone to them.
    Total fraud.

  12. Very bad service

    I have taken mobile insurance from oneassist and the the plan is -Mi protect Plan_S Rs. 6000-8000. I have paid rs 500.
    Unfortunately there is a screen crack and I have to claim it from one assist.
    Issue:
    1. First they have promised me they will provide me service set (backup set). But after following on more than 10 times they have not provided any service set.
    2. They have taken my hand set 2 months back but I am still waiting for it to return. It is so surprising to me that to replace the screen they have taken 2 months and still waiting. For this they have change me extra rs 350. That I also paid 40 days back.
    I feel oneassist is a cheater as when I call them, they say I am connecting to the senior and after putting me on hold for 10 min, they say senior is busy. If I still insist, I have to talk to the senior then they disconnect the call.
    Verdict:
    Based on my experience, I would suggest never go with oneassist. They are fraud. They will frustrate you with their worse service.

  13. Don't buy Redmi Protect insurance. It's run by a very unprofessional company.

    Wow! Wish I had read the reviews earlier.

    I filed a claim under liquid damage and they rejected it on the grounds of mysterious circumstances, just because I said that I didn’t find water droplets inside the phone. Sometimes it happens that the water droplets are too small and they get in so we don’t see it. So they termed it mysterious circumstance!

    And now I’m reading that they take so many days to repair the device itself. Will definitely not bother with it next time. Better to spend money at the service centre than to be harassed and cheated by One Assist.

    They still haven’t returned my phone even after a whole week and neither will the “claim relationship officer” respond to calls. She actually picked up and cut the call!

    Complaint No 1790391. Mobile got liquid damage but company said we did it intentionally. Followed up religiously but no solution. Even their response time is minimum one month. Looks they also earn money by keeping phone with themselves. Bought new MI phone but without the protection. MI should stay from such cheap robbers.

    Yes It’s completely fake service by one assist . They will just take money for protection but when your will mobile got damaged they will keep asking when , where and how it happened. Give this photo to us , give that snap to us . Even when you will upload each and every possible photo of mobile and invoice . Then they will start again with when , where and how it happened ? How many times you will answer they will keep asking again n again untill you will reach at a stage when you will think let it go !!!! I have all the proofs how many times I emailed to one assist.i think I made more than 10 calls to them after waiting for more than one hour they will be busy. And now I can see even if they will pickup your phone they are never going to return it. It will destroy the image of MI soon . One plus servify service was much better than mi protection one assist.
