Tata Motors has launched its much awaited variant of the legendary Safari Lineup. It has been quiet sometime when the rumors of Storme surfaced on the Net, and since then enthusiasts and Safari lovers have been waiting anxiously. Tata motors have ensured that their stable has all the right steeds to allure the ‘Janta’ in the upcoming festive season with the launch of Tata Manza Club Class on 16th Oct, 2012. Earlier anticipated and rumored to be named as Safari Merlin but during the official display at the 2012 Auto Expo it was made clear that the name shall be Storme, and looking at the features it can stir up a storm for sure.
Tata Storme Price details (Ex Showroom Delhi) are as follows:
|Price (in Lacs)||
Tata Motors has made it clear that the current variants of Safari will continue to be in lineage. Storme will be available in 5 Trims (LX, LXA, EX, VX , VXP), However the E-Brochure shows only four trims. Even now the 4X4 Ability is still available in the Top two trims and this might prove to be deal breaker for some people. The Electronic Shift on fly feature for 4X4 transfer is still there.
Safari Storme however is not identical to the previous DICOR versions as the suspension and chassis has been borrowed from the Aria Platform. This might ensure that some body roll is negated, and the vehicle is more stable to drive in high speeds. The Engine is not the conventional 2.2 DICOR, The Storme comes with a VARICOR 2.2 Diesel powerplant churning out 140 bhp’s, and a Top Speed of 160 kmph.
The body shell looks similar to the previous version and the Safari identity has been maintained, though some people might call it intense amalgamation of the design strategy of the Rovers and Tatas but the new fascia is attractive and gives it a more subtle look. Interiors have been worked upon nicely and they should appeal to the masses more in terms of refinement and precision. ABS and EBD have been made standard across variants(As per E-Brochure).
