Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has today unveiled the Vivo NEX, the brands latest flagship packed with innovative features in India. The NEX features a display that is almost bezel-less with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24%. The NEX also sports the industry-first elevating front camera and Ultra FullView™ screen.
Commenting on the launch, Kent Cheng, CEO, Vivo India said, “Vivo has always believed in exploring the unknown, undertaking new challenges and providing our consumers with smartphones that push the boundaries of both technology and user experience. We are optimistic about NEX’s capability to change the way the world perceives smartphone design, performance and ergonomics.” He also added, “Creating an industry first with our Hi-Fi audio chip to launching the world’s thinnest smartphone, and providing consumers the first In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology, Vivo will continue to further introduce the best of technology in its products.”
Also, Vivo specifically mentioned that under the Make In India initiative, the NEX will be manufactured at its facility in Greater Noida. In terms of specifications, the NEX features a 6.59-inch SuperAMOLED Ultra FullView display with a fingerprint scanner, that is placed right under it enables users to have a truly futuristic experience. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 8GB RAM, and 128GB onboard storage.
In terms of camera, there is a dual camera setup on the back consisting of a 12MP and a 5 MP lens with Dual Pixel Technology, OIS and LED flash. There is an 8MP front-facing camera which pops up when a user needs to click a selfie and again, it submerges within the body of the phone within a second. In the camera department, there are implementations of AI as well, which enhances the photos automatically and keeps learning throughout the overall usage. There are other features like Live Photo, Face Beauty, Backlight HDR, Portrait Bokeh, Panorama, AR Stickers, Filters, Slow motion, Backlight, Timelapse etc.
The Vivo NEX also comes with the innovative Screen SoundCasting technology, where the speaker system is inbuilt which results in reduced bezel size and enhanced sound quality, without any distortion. The smartphone also features an OLED panel which serves as an earpiece. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and packs a 4000mAh battery.
The Vivo NEX also features a left-side AI button for its Jovi AI. Pressing and holding this button lets users take advantage of all its AI-based services and functionalities.
The Vivo NEX is priced at Rs. 44,990 and is available only in Black color variant across select offline stores from July 21. Also, the phone will be available online from Vivo E-Store and Amazon India with launch offers like Instant cashback of Rs. 4000 on HDFC Credit Cards (EMI & Non-EMI) & Debit Cards (EMI), One Time free screen replacement and No cost EMI for up to 12 months.
