The Explore Tab is redesigned and now it will provide quick recommendations for restaurants, bars, and cafes in an area that users are interested in. Using Google’s algorithms and opinions from local guides and experts, the suggestions will be shown. The Explore tab now also shows the top events and activities happening in any particular area. Google Maps now works even better for those who have turned on his location history and it provides recommendation and a rating which shows how likely the user is going to enjoy being at that place. The new Explore tab is now available globally for Android as well as iOS users. ‘Your Match’, the feature based on complex algorithms and dining habits, is now available to Android users.

Also, users can now select their food and drink preferences so that Google Maps can provide better recommendations while searching. The trending restaurant list is made for foodies like when you want to try the 5 of the best Chinese food chains in your neighborhood, you can see how many places you have been and keep a track of your food hunt. The Explore tab has some good filtering options like ‘good for kids’, ‘cheap’ or ‘indoor or outdoor’ so that users can find out the best activity that matches their taste.

Google in a press statement said that users should update the Google Maps app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store and also emphasized the users might like to share their favorite list of restaurants on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #OnGoogleMaps.
