The Mi Max 2 is a much-needed refresh and replacement to the original Mi Max, which was launched quite some time ago. The Mi Max 2 features a huge 6.44-inch full-HD display, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Xiaomi’s own skin, the MIUI on top.
The Mi Max 2 has 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB by using a microSD card. The Mi Max 2 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM. There is a rear 12MP camera having the SOny IMX386 sensor and dual-LED flash. There is also a front-facing 5MP camera for video calls and selfies.
The fingerprint reader is placed on the back below the camera module and the IR blaster is on the top edge of the phone, which is useful for controlling electronic appliances like TV, AC, fan etc.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE and VoLTE, 3G HSDPA, 2G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Infrared. There are stereo speakers on this phone so we expect a loud output with great clarity and the best part is that the phone switches to stereo automatically when you’re watching movies or playing games holding the phone in landscape mode.
