Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has announced a new phone under its V series of smartphones. The company has launched the all-new Vivo V21 in India, which comes with a 44-megapixel selfie camera with Optical Image Stabilization for the first time in the world.

Vivo launched the phone at a time when India is under a surge of COVID-19 cases and, keeping that in mind, Commenting on the launch of V21, Nipun Marya, Director, Brand Strategy, Vivo India, said, “These are challenging times for all of us in the country. The Vivo V21 is a sleek phone with just 7.29mm thickness. It features a 6.44-inch full-HD+ 90Hz AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 800U chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. The Extended RAM feature allows the phone to use up to 3GB of ROM as virtual RAM. There is 128GB or 256GB onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB further using the dedicated microSD slot.

As mentioned earlier, the USP of the phone is the front-facing camera, but let’s talk about the primary camera module, which consists of a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 aperture, along with an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The rear camera supports OIS as well.

For selfies and video calls, the Vivo V21 has the world’s first 44-megapixel camera sensor with OIS. There is also a dual-LED flash for clearer selfies in low lighting conditions and dark environments. The front-facing camera uses a combination of OIS and EIS to capture great-looking selfies and stable 4K videos at night. The Spotlight selfie combines screen’s soft light and built-in dual-LED flash for great-looking night selfies.

In terms of connectivity, the Vivo V21 is a 5G-ready phone that offers all the other conventional connectivity options like 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, USB-C. The phone packs a 4000mAh battery despite the sleek form factor and runs Android 11 out of the box with Vivo’s own FunTouch OS 11 skin on top. The Vivo V21 is available in three color variants- Sunset Dazzle, Dusk Blue, and Arctic White.

The base variant of Vivo V21 with 128GB storage is priced at ₹29,990, whereas the variant with 256GB RAM will cost ₹32,990. The prebooking starts on April 29, and the phone will go on sale starting May 6. The phone will be available for purchase on major e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Vivo India online store and major offline stores like Reliance Digital, Croma, and more. There are various launch offers on the purchase of Vivo V21, like a ₹2,000 instant cashback via HDFC Bank, ₹3,000 worth of additional exchange discount, and no-cost EMI options for up to 12 months for online purchases. Customers purchasing the phone offline will also be able to avail offers like 10% cashback via HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank, up to 10% cashback on EMI transactions via Bajaj Finserv, and zero down payment via Home Credit and TVS Credit.
