MediaTek has announced the launch of its Helio G90 series chipsets. The company has introduced two new chipsets, the Helio G90 & G90T under the new lineup. These new chipsets are designed with one aim- incredible smartphone gaming experience. This is what MediaTek claims. As per the company, the new chipsets provide massive AI performance to deliver fast, fluid action.
Commenting on the launch, TL Lee, General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communication Business Unit, said, “The mobile gaming market is growing and device makers are looking to give consumers and especially gaming fans the best smartphone game-play experience. That’s why we designed the G90 series.” He further added, “Our combination of hardware and software delivers high performance, unrivalled image quality, uninterrupted connectivity to always stay in the game, and smooth responsive action even in the most demanding games.”
The new Helio G90 series octa-core chipsets use Arm Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55’s paired with the Arm Mali– G76 3EEMC4 GPU with speeds of up to 800MHz. The company claims that with the combined powers of CPU, GPU and APU, the G90 Series of chipsets will make it possible for gamers to enjoy a great gaming experience with reduced lag. The new G90 Series of chipsets can support up to 10GB of LPDDR4x and up to 2133MHz memory. A large L3 cache and clock speeds of up to 2.05GHz can noticeably boost speeds in games, as well as those apps that demand a lot of resources.
In terms of imaging as well, the MediaTek Helio G90 Series excels as it supports up to 64MP single camera and multi-camera combinations. It can deliver smooth real-time previews and incredible picture quality in low-light with a night shot mode that uses quad pixel technology. Its triple-ISP design optimizes power and performance. It also incorporates fast, precise AI facial detection and the power to accelerate AI-camera applications. Plus, its multi-camera framework supports multiple lens choices.

The new MediaTek G90 Series of chipsets also offer better performance in other aspects, like the Networking Engine intelligently predicts network conditions and optimizes the connection between smartphone and cellular network. If it detects the Wi-Fi signal degrading, it triggers Wi-Fi and LTE concurrency that takes just milliseconds. This seamless exchange from one connection to the other keeps the network connection smooth and the game lag-free. MediaTek claims that even with a crowded network, users will get up to a 50% faster response than competing solutions. It also lets a single smartphone antenna to be connected to two Wi-Fi bands at 2.4GHz and 5GHz or two routers simultaneously.
Phone calls during gaming could be very annoying due to the dropping of the data connection. But the new chipsets offer Call & Data Concurrency so when a smartphone receives a call it won’t drop the data connection.
The new Helio G90 Series chipsets support the latest HDR10 standard with 10-bit Color Depth for vivid visuals on HDR-enabled smartphone displays, for better gaming and multimedia experience. Specification and technical details for both the Helio G90 and Helio G90T are added below.
