Honor, the subbrand of Huawei got a bit expanded today. Once again, the brand has come up with the Honor 9i, which is a step towards a better and more futuristic experience to the users, with the bezel-less FullView FHD+ display and a quad-camera setup– This is not a made up line or some crazy gimmick, well we will talk about that later.

The Honor 9i will be available in India at an extremely competitive price of Rs 17,999 and it will compete with phones like Mi Mix 2 or Moto G5s Plus when people talk about features vs price, and make a choice. The Honor 9i is set to go on sale from 14 October onward exclusively via Flipkart and Honor has also hinted some exciting launch offers, when people buy the Honor 9i.

Commenting on the launch Mr Peter Zhai, President Huawei India Consumer Business Group said “Today is an extremely important day for us in our India journey so far. We are thrilled to launch a phone which can be termed a global first, as the Honor 9i is the only phone so far to boast of two dual cameras and FullView FHD+ display.  As frontrunners in bringing breakthrough technology as well as great features at attractive prices, we remain committed to bringing best-in-class devices and services to our users in India.”

Now let’s have a look at what we get for Rs. 17, 999 on the Honor 9i.

Say bye to bezels and distraction with FullView Display

The Honor 9i features a huge 5.5-inch” display, but you wouldn’t feel a huge overall size upgrade, thanks to Honor for cutting down the bezels. The FullView FHD+ Display with 18:9 aspect ratio offers a more comfortable split-screen experience for users to effectively multitask, allowing two apps to be run side-by-side to increase productivity.

Symmetrical Design – Coz its Honor, not Samsung

The design of Honor 9i is symmetrical and you won't have to spend a tough time reaching the fingerprint scanner
The design of Honor 9i is symmetrical and you won’t have to spend a tough time reaching the fingerprint scanner

The design is symmetrical and there are no random buttons here and there that trigger an app or do anything or a fingerprint scanner put at such a position you can’t reach it. On the back of the Honor 9i, there is the dual camera setup with flash, fingerprint sensor, USB socket and dual-lens camera all lie on the central axis of the phone. On the front, the dual-lens camera sits on the right, a reflection of the camera flash and distance sensor on the left. This is a work of almost symmetrical design and you know what that camera or sensor or fingerprint scanner it, rather than training yourself for a week.

First ever, four camera setup on an Honor phone

We all have seen how good the Honor 8 Pro was, a pure champ at a not-a-flagship price and now with the Honor 9i, Honor is aiming towards competing with others more and more. In terms of rear camera, the megapixel count is higher this time with two 16MP sensors, whereas Honor 8 Pro had two 12MP sensors on the back. And of course, you will enjoy the way it captures details and provides the depth effect to photos. And that’s not all. You can adjust the focus point even after you have taken a photo or you can add some photo effects. The Honor 9i can also records time-lapse, light painting, slow motion video capture and panorama. And the Pro mode is there so that photography enthusiasts can tweak everything to get the perfect shot.

On the front as well, there are two 13MP sensors and well, to be honest, Honor has always been a brand focusing towards photography at the best level and they want to give it to the people who love selfies as well. There is also a new feature known as ‘smart selfie toning flash’ which intelligently adjusts the brightness level of the front facing flash matching it with the surroundings.

A Blend of powerful hardware and efficient software

The Honor 9i is a perfect balance of software and hardware. The Honor 9i is powered by a Kirin 659 octa-core chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage onboard. Huawei’s Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.1 optimizes the user experience by learning and predicting user behavior. The 3340mAh battery delivers power efficiency with talk time up to 20 hours. In terms of audio, Honor 9i uses the proprietary Huawei Histen audio system, which uses six algorithms to ensure music and movies sound extraordinary. It also supports Bluetooth aptX for better audio quality and better sync between audio and video making gaming and movie watching experiences more immersive.

It won’t make you sell your kidney

The Honor 9i is priced at just Rs. 17,999, which is an exceptional pricing, to be honest, and it will be available via Flipkart from October 14th, Huawei also hinted a bit that they might provide some exciting launch offers at that time.

So, stay tuned for more updates and a detailed review, as we spend some time with the Honor 9i, we will let you know about the camera performance, gaming and other aspects of the phone in a detailed manner very soon.
