Nokia 2 comes with a 5-inch HD (720x1280px) LTPS display, which HMD Global claims to be more power efficient and it comes with a best-in-class, with 1:1300 contrast ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The dual-SIM Nokia 2 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and sports a 5-inch 720p HD display as we mentioned earlier as well. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor, clocked up to 1.2GHz and coupled with 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM.

In terms of camera, the Nokia 2 sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front fixed focus camera.

As for storage, the Nokia 2 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor.

Commenting on the launch fo Nokia 2, Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, said, People rely on their phones so much these days with many people subconsciously rationing their battery life when out and about so they can last the day. We don’t think you should have to do less with your phone which is why we created a smartphone that can power through when other devices need a pit stop.” He added,With the Nokia 2, we wanted to replicate the unique Android experience we’ve delivered so far with the long-lasting battery which so many fans associate and expect from their Nokia phones. To make this a reality, every component of the Nokia 2- from the display to battery, chipset to system design – has been engineered to draw as little power as possible from the huge battery to give fans a long-lasting phone they can rely on.”

Larry Paulson, Vice President and President, Qualcomm India said, The new generation of Indians have leapfrogged to the digital world by embracing the smartphone. Mobile is the key device for over 90% Indians to access the internet.  India is now the leading mobile data consumption market in the world. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platform, the new Nokia 2 brings reliability, affordability and cutting-edge battery life to meet the requirements of the new age smartphone user.”

The Nokia 2 will be available in three color variants- Pewter/Black, Pewter/White and Copper/Black and will carry a global average price tag of $99. So, of course, this is Nokia’s bet in the budget segment, but without the muscle power or like a specs war.

Nokia 2 will be focused towards a great battery life, an incredible Android Experience with no bloatware or skins added on top, guaranteed upgrades and security patches via OTA and providing the best Android experience at this kind of low budget. We don’t know yet how well the device performs or does the phone really lasts for two days? We will let you know when we get the phone for a detailed review.
