Wonderchef Coffee Maker Review (CM – 936A)

Wonderchef is a known name for selling quality appliances and utensils for Kitchen. It was co-founded by immensely popular Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, and since no one understand Kitchen better than him, hence he knows what consumers needs concerning quality and comfort of usage. Wonderchef Coffee Maker is also one of the Kitchen appliances from them and is a nice looking product, as rather than going the conventional way of selling a black colored product, it comes in appealing Orange and Green color. Frankly when I saw these colors on the website, they didn’t win me, but when I actually saw the product, that apparently made me understood that it’s something different from the conventional coffee maker in terms of design, looks, and product quality.

Wonderchef Coffee Maker Review: Design

Speaking of Design, this coffee maker bounds to get attention at first looks. The body is made of plastic, and the finishing is of a premium grade. It is compact in size, light to port and easy to handle. In terms of looks, it looks smart and simple. There are clear markings (scale) on the translucent water reservoir which can hold 12 cups of water at a time.

There is a fine nylon coffee filter which you can use instead of using a coffee paper filter which is not readily available in India, nor their cost is pocket-friendly. It is removable and washable at your ease.

Then there is an Anti-Drip Valve, which releases the coffee only when the jug is kept on the coffee maker below it. I did a leakage test on the Valve, and it passed. It is also removable & washable. There was no leakage when I tried to pass only water, so for an obvious reason, it holds the coffee too.

The best part about that is you can stop the brewing process anytime, just in case you change your mind or want to make coffee a little later.

There is also a hot-plate at the bottom of the coffee maker to keep the coffee warm if you intend to drink it later on. For that, you have to leave the coffee maker switch ON even when it has completed making coffee.

The jug (carafe) is made of glass and has a plastic handle to carry. It is light in weight and can carry 12 cups of coffee at a time. In terms of product quality, its fine, but since its made of glass, you need to use it carefully and should avoid keeping it on a wet surface when removed from the hot plate.

Wonderchef Coffee Maker Review: Usage

Since this product came to me for review, I did all kind of experiments I may could do. So, here’s what I made using this coffee maker:

• Made Coffee (of course)
• Made Tea (Green and Black)
• Ran Milk instead of water and it worked perfectly. You need to ensure to use filtered milk only.
• Made cornflakes. Added some cornflakes to jug, and let the pure milk drip over it and then extracted all to a utensil using a spoon.
• Tried boiling an egg.. (Not recommended)
• Making Rice (Didn’t try yet, but I think it’s possible since the hot plate is good enough hot & I don’t recommend doing same)

Wonderchef Coffee Maker Review: Output Quality

As per instructions provided, I made two cups of coffee; it took hardly a minute for the brew to start dripping into the carafe. The strength of the coffee was good, with the flavors being extracted well. Since we are only two persons at a time at the office, I never needed to make more than 2 cups at a time, but once I tried 4 cups too, left 2 cups in the carafe over the hot plate of coffee maker for later usage, and there wasn’t any change in coffee quality.

If you want to use beans, then maybe you have to run the same brew 3-4 times over same beans to get the most out of it. Then I would recommend making at least 2 cups of coffee. Although these instant coffee makers are not designed to make coffee using beans, hence it’s just a small trick I wrote above.

It is recommended by the company to make at least 2 cups of coffee in one go, but you can make any quantity you want, even if it may be half cup of coffee.

Update: Wonderchef After Sales Service

So after repetitive usage of milk in coffee machine got the machine choke. So, I called customer care of Wonderchef and registered a complaint. I was given a time-frame of 2-4 days in which the customer service person will come and fix the product. The service person came after approx 2-3 weeks. Now he was not able to fix the issue, said that the base of the machine is choked, hence that needs to be replaced. He asked for 1 week, that he’ll come back after a week and replace the base. Now it’s been more a month and no one has arrived. That clearly depicts the level of after sales service Wonderchef has in Delhi.

Final Verdict

Wonderchef Regalia coffee maker is a good quality product with good coffee output quality. It’s a simple device to operate and is a stylish looking product. It comes in 2 color variants and is not expensive in pricing. If you had NO mood to invest a good amount of money to get a coffee maker with milk frothing feature, you could opt for this.
