The LG K42 features a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P22 octa-core chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. LG K42 sports a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for convenient access, which doubles up as a shutter button while taking selfies.

The phone sports a quad-camera setup on the back consisting of a primary 13-megapixel sensor alongside a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens, while there are two more 2-megapixel lenses for depth sensing and macro photography. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.

The LG K42 comes with a Flash Jump Cut feature that allows the camera to take four still images with intervals. While using this feature, the phone’s flash indicates when the phone is capturing images. There is also a Time Helper, which makes the flash blink and alerts users before an image is captured. LG claims that the onboard AI Cam feature uses AI-based algorithms to recommend the optimal camera mode in different scenarios.

LG K42 comes with the standard connectivity options, including 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The phone runs Android 10 out of the box with LG’s skin on top. The LG K42 packs a 4,000mAh battery.

LG K42 comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left edge. A single press of that button brings up Google Assistant. Pressing it twice launches Visual Snapshot that shows weather, schedule, and other information, while pressing and holding the button lets users use the phone as a walkie-talkie for quick voice commands. There is a Game Launcher for quick access to frequently played games and offers the best settings for each one.

LG K42 offers a smooth grip with a distinctive rear design with unique wave patterns and a UV coating. The phone is available in two colors- Gray and Green. Starting January 26, 2021, the phone will be available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart for a price of ₹10990. LG seems to be quite confident about the phone and offers not one but two years of warranty on the phone with a one-time free screen replacement.
