Google Chromecast 3 was unveiled earlier this month, with a new design and today, the all-new Google Chromecast 3 has been launched in India. After the Chromecast 2, which was launched in September 2015, this is an upgrade. The new design and looks seem to be inspired and quite familiar to other Made by Google products.

Google Chromecast 3 comes with HDMI and offers the option to mirror the screen of a smartphone or cast the content of a compatible app to a TV. As of now, over 800 apps are compatible with the Chromecast. Google has claimed that the new Chromecast would offer 15% faster performance while supporting 60fps video streaming in full HD 1080p resolution which is an upgrade from the streaming capability at 720p.

Another big update Chromcast 3 got is Bluetooth Support. Although it’s not officially mentioned by Google yet about the Bluetooth functionality in the device, for what purpose the Bluetooth would be used, like if we could pair Bluetooth Headsets or Gaming controller for the upcoming rumoured gaming feature on chromecast.

Also, Google tweaked the Chromecast 3 to include a 0.mm trim on the GHz PCB antenna trace that increases the GHz maximum antenna gain from 2dBi to 4 dBi.

The new Chromecast 3 will also work with Google Assistant. Users can now also connect a Google Home speaker with the Chromecast to simply use their voice to play a particular YouTube video on TV. Google may also bring the compatibility to play music in sync via multiple speakers using it. It comes with HDMI as well as a Micro-USB port for power supply, along with Wi-Fi connectivity.

The new Google Chromecast 3 is priced at Rs. 3,499 in India and is available for purchase through Flipkart. As an introductory offer, customers purchasing the Chromecast 3 from Flipkart get a free one-year subscription to Sony Liv and six months of ad-free streaming on Gaana. Flipkart will also offer cashback worth Rs. 100 if they purchase the new Chromecast using a PhonePe account. Axis Bank debit or credit card users can avail a 10% instant discount on purchase.

Unlike the Chromecast 2 which came with a glossy finish, the new Chromecast 3 comes with a matte finish, with Google’s ‘G’ logo on top. The new Chormecast 3 comes in two colours – Chalk and Charcoal
