HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones has finally launched the Nokia 1 in India, running Android Oreo Go Edition. Android Go is Google’s approach towards software optimization to deliver the best level of performance on low-end phones and to fulfill the promise of upgrading millions of Indians from feature phone to smartphone, Nokia 1 has been launched.

The Nokia 1 sports a 4.5-inch, 854×480 resolution IPS display. It is powered by the MediaTek MT6737 processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage and packs 21050mAh battery. Though it’s an affordable device, Nokia has put all their efforts to provide a complete smartphone experience by not missing out front and rear cameras, 4G connectivity, dual SIM and microSD slot. There is a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera for video calling.

The Nokia 1 is available globally in two colors- Warm Red and Dark Blue. On top of that, users can give Nokia 1 a new makeover with Xpress-on covers. With these interchangeable two-tone polycarbonate cover, Nokia 1 is expected to face the rough and tough lifestyle of many, ready to take on everyday knocks and bumps.

Tailored to devices with 1GB RAM or less, Android Oreo Go Edition comes with light apps, designed by Google which are optimized to occupy less, consume less amount of RAM & power, and run smoothly. The apps that are pre-installed on the device are Google Go, Google Maps Go, YouTube Go and Google Assistant for Android Go Edition. With these light apps and optimizations, users get as high as twice the available storage out of the box as compared to Android Nougat. Nokia also talked about their policy of removing bloatware, skins which give a pure Android experience to users.

The all new Nokia 1 with Android Oreo Go Edition will be available for sale starting March 28, 2018, at a recommended best buy price of Rs. 5,499. The Xpress On covers will be sold separately starting April 2018 at an MRP of Rs. 450 only. Nokia 1 also comes with cashback offer from Jio, under which consumers can get cashback worth Rs. 2200, making the effective price of Nokia 1 to come down to Rs. 3299 while they enjoy the benefit of additional 60GB 4G LTE data.

This offer will be applicable to both new & existing Jio customers. There are other offers like a complimentary 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify if a user opens the Kotak 811 savings account and activate it with an initial deposit of Rs 1,000 in the introductory period.
