Huawei’s subsidiary brand Honor’s mid-range smartphone, Honor 7X is said to be receiving a software update that brings some new features. One of the most anticipated feature these days, the Face Unlock feature is also set to arrive with the update. The software update also includes other features like the addition of AR Lens to the selfie camera, optimizations for the Weather App and Google’s January Android security patch. As of now, the update is rolling out for Chinese units.
AndroidSoul reports that the latest update for Honor 7X is rolling out with build number B192. The blog claims that the update is currently available for the Chinese variant of the phone having the model number AL10. The Honor 7X is sold with under several model numbers globally, including L21, L22, and L24.
This new update doesn’t bring a drastic change to the software, but the addition of Face Unlock and AR Lens is a quite appreciated step, as per the community. Earlier, Honor View 10 got the Face Unlock feature. It can be activated by going into Settings > Security and Privacy > Face Unlock. Also, the Honor 7X now got an AR Lens in the front selfie camera which allows users to add effects and modify backgrounds while taking selfies. It can be found by going into Camera > Modes > AR Lens. Honor 7X also gets new options for lock screen notifications, which gives users the ability to hide the content shown in notifications. This can be managed by going into Settings > Security and Privacy > Face Unlock > Smart lock screen notifications.
The Honor 7X was launched in India in December 2017 as a successor to the Honor 6X. The Honor 7X sports a 5.93-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of inbuilt storage. There is a 3340mAh battery under the hood. The main USP is the quad camera setup on the front and the back, with which Honor wants to continue the legacy of providing a great camera experience with their smartphones.
