Amazon Kindle is synonymous to e-book reader and Amazon has just launched the new Kindle Oasis. For the first time ever, the Kindle Oasis is waterproof with an IPX8 rating. The new Kindle Oasis is bigger and holds a 7-inch 300 ppi display.
The resolution of the e-paper display is the same at 300 ppi, but it has some extra LED lights to lighten up the display evenly. The new Kindle Oasis also packs an ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness as per different lighting conditions. It also packs physical turn-page buttons.
The extension case is removed and now, the Oasis will rely on battery power only. The overall physical overview of the device is almost same as last year apart from the bump in display size and bigger battery. The new Kindle Oasis is waterproof and has been tested in up to two meters of water for up to 60 minutes.
The new Kindle Oasis comes with the built-in Audible app, which users can use to start an audiobook and steam it over Bluetooth to a set of headphones or a speaker. The new Kindle comes in two storage variants- 8GB and 32GB and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
The new Kindle Oasis also includes various settings to enrich your reading experience.
- New Font Size and Bold Settings: Now choose from more font sizes than ever before – and five levels of boldness – for whichever font you choose to read with. Combined with the new 7-inch Paperwhite display, you can personalize your books so it’s perfectly comfortable for your eyes.
- New Accessibility Options: In addition to the OpenDyslexic font, we’ve added a feature to invert black and white on the display if you have light sensitivity. And the new enlarged display option lets you increase the size of items like the menu bar, text on the home screen and library as well as the book icons to make the all-new Kindle Oasis easier to read.
- Light Settings: Built-in ambient light sensors automatically adjust the display to your surroundings whether you’re in a dimly-lit room or outside in the sun— and the light can be fine-tuned even further based on personal preferences.
- Ragged Right Alignment: You can now read using left-aligned (ragged right) text instead of justified (aligned on both left and right margin).
